First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos Inducted as Auxiliary Vice Admiral into Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary


MANILA — First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos has been officially inducted into the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Auxiliary Executive Squadron, receiving the rank of ‘Auxiliary Vice Admiral’ during a ceremony aboard the BRP Gabriela Silang on Tuesday.



According to Philippines News Agency, Admiral Ronnie Gil Gavan, the ceremony was conducted by Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista and included the formal donning and oath-taking of the First Lady. Gavan highlighted the vital role of the PCG Auxiliary in supporting the Coast Guard’s mandates, which include maritime safety, environmental preservation, and community relations.



The First Lady’s participation is seen as a significant boost for the Auxiliary, enhancing its capabilities and serving as an inspiration to its members. Gavan noted her recent involvement in the rehabilitation of the Pasig River, aligning her efforts with the PCG’s commitment to preserving the country’s waterways. He praised her dedication to public service, describing her as a figure of grace and patriotism, deeply committed to the nation’s maritime safety and sovereignty, especially concerning the issues in the West Philippine Sea.
