THE Ministry of Finance held its Ease-of-Doing Business Roadshow in Temburong to showcase reforms and initiatives that have been made over the years for a better business environment.
Among the initiatives that were showcased yesterday were reduction in taxes and exemptions over the years to spur the growth of small and medium companies, the Brunei National Single Window to better ease imports and exports, initiatives for the employee trust fund under their E-Amanah Programme to move processes online for convenience of members and their employers and shortening the time to start a business and the ability to start one online.
According to the ministry, the objective of the roadshow was to create public awareness and better understanding of those reforms.
These areas include Trading Across Borders, the prvision of laws pertaining to the protection of Minority Investors, Changes to the Payment of Taxes and the Process of Resolving Company Insolvency and the Process of Starting a Business.
The roadshow was participated by the Treasury Department of the Ministry of Finance, Royal customs and Excise, the Employees Trust Fund, Revenue Division and the Registry of Companies and Business Names Division.
Other relevant agencies such as the EODB Unit at the Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ports Department, Postal Services Department and Darussalam Enterprise, also took part.
