Post: Faulty Update Impacts 8.5 Million Windows Devices Worldwide

MANILA — A recent Microsoft Azure cloud service outage, triggered by a problematic update from CloudStrike, has impacted approximately 8.5 million devices running Windows operating systems, according to Microsoft's official blog.

According to Philippines News Agency, The company detailed in their blog post that the update from CrowdStrike affected less than one percent of all Windows machines globally. Despite the small percentage, the outage had significant economic and social repercussions due to CrowdStrike's widespread use in many critical service sectors. The blog emphasized the scale of disruption across key industries, including banking, airlines, and media, with reported malfunctions on July 19 affecting companies throughout the US, Australia, India, the UK, and the European Union.

In response to the crisis, Microsoft collaborated with CrowdStrike to develop a swift solution to the issue. CrowdStrike has acknowledged the connection between its latest antivirus software update and the Windows disruptions in a statement to CNBC, affirming that its experts are actively working to revert the software to a stable prior version.
