Family and Friends Link Policeman to Disappearance of Beauty Queen Catherine Camilon

Batangas City – The ongoing investigation into the disappearance of beauty pageant candidate Catherine Camilon has led police to scrutinize her interactions with her boyfriend, Maj. Allan de Castro. In a television interview on Tuesday, Col. Jacinto Malinao, chief of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Calabarzon, revealed that Camilon’s mother, sister Chin-Chin, and a friend named ‘Vanessa’ confirmed Camilon was set to meet de Castro in Batangas City on October 12, the day she went missing.

According to Philippines News Agency, Col. Malinao, screenshots of text messages between de Castro and Camilon have been obtained and will be used as evidence. The messages suggest that Catherine was hurt, and de Castro became enraged after learning that Catherine had informed his wife about his infidelity. Malinao highlighted that de Castro’s alleged violent tendencies when intoxicated, which sometimes resulted in bruises on Catherine, is a significant motive behind her disappearance. During interrogation, de Castro denied all allegations against him. He is currently under restrictive custody at the Police Regional Office- 4A headquarters.

The CIDG Calabarzon has filed a kidnapping case against de Castro, Jeffrey Magpantay, and two unidentified individuals with the Batangas Provincial Prosecutor’s Office. Prosecutors are expected to decide within 10 days whether to proceed to a preliminary investigation. Catherine Camilon, a teacher from Tuy town, was last seen at a mall in Lemery town and had called her family stating she was heading to a meeting in Batangas City.
