With reference to the press release issued by the National Security Committee Secretariat, Prime Minister’s Office dated 14 Zulhijjah 1437 corresponding to 16th September 2016; the Saudi Gazette online e-paper report concerning the arrest of a man from Brunei Darussalam for his involvement in terrorism in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia is NOT TRUE.

On 20th September 2016, Saudi Gazette online e-paper admitted the error in the earlier report and has corrected the report. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Brunei Darussalam through the Embassy of Brunei Darussalam in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia informed that the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has confirmed there is no Brunei citizen involved in the arrest as reported.

The National Security Committee and security agencies of Brunei Darussalam will continuously monitor any activities that pose a threat to the security of the country. Citizens and residents of Brunei Darussalam are reminded to abide by the law and not be involved in any terrorist or criminal activities in the country or while being abroad.
