Bandar Seri Begawan: In addressing the number of elderly people who are left as 'long-term patients', Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Mohammad Isham bin Haji Jaafar, Minister of Health explained that a 'Whole of Nation' approach is being studied to address it.
According to Radio Television Brunei, Yang Berhormat said that the ministry is encouraging more private sector participation in providing elderly care facilities, including home care. They are also collaborating with the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports in the caregiver programme with the Institute of Brunei Technical Education, IBTE, to prepare individuals as caregivers and subsequently open up opportunities for job seekers to venture into this field.
