EAC Triumphs Over Letran in NCAA Season 99, Enhancing Semifinals Chances
SAN JUAN — Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC) achieved a critical victory against Letran with a score of 82-69 during Friday’s game, intensifying their quest for a semifinals spot in the NCAA Season 99 men’s basketball tournament. The match took place at the Filoil EcoOil Arena, marking a significant moment in the college basketball league.
According to Philippines News Agency, JP Maguliano led the scoring for EAC with 20 points accompanied by nine rebounds, while Nat Cosejo added a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds against the previously triumphant Letran Knights. Ralph Robin also contributed significantly to EAC’s win with 16 points and three steals, recalling their earlier 75-65 victory over Letran on October 1.
EAC’s latest success has positioned them with a 7-5 record, securing their spot in fifth place behind San Beda University and College of Saint Benilde, both of which have 7-4 records. On the other side, Letran’s Kobe Monje put up 14 points and seven rebounds, with Kevin Santos adding 10 points and seven rebounds. Despite their efforts, Letran has faced a challenging season, recording their eleventh loss in twelve games, marking an unexpected early exit for a team that was a strong contender for this year’s championship.
The current leaderboard sees Mapua leading with a 9-2 standing, followed by Lyceum of the Philippines University at 8-3, and Jose Rizal University holding an 8-4 record.
