DSWD Provides Financial Aid to 600 Dagupan Residents Under Crisis Assistance Program
DAGUPAN – Approximately 600 individuals in Dagupan received financial assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Wednesday, each benefiting from a PHP2,000 subsidy under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) Program.
According to Philippines News Agency, a resident of Barangay Mamalingling who was among the recipients, the support will be used for household expenses, expressing gratitude for the aid provided.
Mayor Belen Fernandez explained that the selection of beneficiaries was random across all villages, aiming to alleviate the financial strain on poor households caused by rising commodity prices. The initiative was part of a broader effort to support community members facing economic hardships.
In addition to the monetary assistance, the event was enriched with contributions from the office of Senator Francis Tolentino, including the distribution of rice bags, appliances, and groceries through a raffle promotion. Six individuals also received wheelchairs, further enhancing the support offered to the community. Moreover, free legal assistance was available to those in need.
The AICS program is designed to aid individuals and families in recovering from unforeseen life events or crises, reflecting the DSWD’s commitment to providing timely and targeted support to those in distress.
