DepEd and CHED Achieve Top Trust and Performance Ratings in Octa Research Survey


MANILA – The Department of Education (DepEd) and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) have emerged as the most trusted government agencies in the Philippines for the fourth quarter of 2023, according to the latest Tugon ng Masa (TNM) survey released by Octa Research. With trust ratings of 84% and 83% respectively, these educational bodies lead the rankings, reflecting public confidence in their initiatives and services.



According to Philippines News Agency, the DepEd and CHED were closely followed by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) with an 82% trust rating, the Department of Health (DOH) at 80%, and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) securing a 75% rating. The performance ratings also highlighted the significant approval of the agencies’ efforts, with CHED and DepEd receiving high satisfaction scores of 82% and 81% respectively.



CHED Chairperson J. Prospero De Vera III expressed satisfaction with the survey results, underscoring them as validation of the commission’s effective programs and services, especially in addressing the educational needs of the underprivileged, particularly in Mindanao. De Vera reaffirmed CHED’s commitment to enhancing higher education equity across the Philippines as a pivotal strategy for poverty eradication.



The TNM survey, which gauges public opinion on a range of issues, was conducted from December 10-14, 2023, among 1,200 respondents nationwide. The results underscore the critical role of education in national development and the positive impact of DepEd and CHED’s policies and programs on the Filipino populace.
