Department of Agriculture to Investigate Alleged Rice Sale Irregularities at NFA
MANILA – The Department of Agriculture (DA) announced on Thursday its expectation for a prompt and thorough investigation into the alleged improper rice sales by the National Food Authority (NFA).
According to Philippines News Agency, the investigative team has commenced document reviews and interviews to uncover the truth behind the accusations. The inquiry aims to address internal allegations of misconduct within the NFA. NFA Assistant Administrator for Operations Lemuel Pagayunan revealed to People’s Television (PTV) that over PHP93.7 million worth of NFA rice was sold to select millers and traders without public bidding, potentially bypassing higher market prices. NFA Administrator Roderico Bioco assured cooperation with the investigation to ensure accountability and transparency.
