Post: Consumer Price Index Records 0.6% Decrease in June 2025

Bandar seri begawan: The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in June 2025 recorded a decrease of 0.6 percent compared to June 2024, driven by declines in the Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages index and the Non-Food index.

According to Radio Television Brunei, the decrease in the Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages index was mainly contributed by lower meat prices, particularly the price of processed meat, as well as vegetables. The Non-Food index saw its decline driven by a reduction in the prices of garments. Additionally, the cost of online media streaming subscription services recorded a decrease due to exchange rate differences.

On a month-on-month basis, the CPI in June 2025 decreased marginally by 0.03 percent compared to May 2025. This was driven by decreases in the Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages index, mainly due to lower prices of vegetables and meat.
