The transformation of the skills training under the Community Empowerment Programme or P-K-K to assist needy individuals, are among the efforts towards guiding this group in becoming more independent and be actively involved in entrepreneurship. One such effort has been being carried out by the Community Development Department through Pusat Bahagia Temburong to help a farmer with his paddy plantations in Kampung Perdayan, Temburong.

Awang Mohammad Haswandi bin Haji Hassan, who is hearing impaired, is now actively carrying out his paddy planting activities. As an initial support to his efforts, officers and staff as well as industrial trainees from Pusat Bahagia in the Temburong District, assisted him in clearing the farm. According to the Acting Assistant Director of the Special Needs Individual Services Division, the effort is intended to provide exposure to other special needs individuals in striving to generate their own income. He hoped that such an effort will receive an encouraging response and be extended to the other districts in an effort to empower these special needs individuals in starting up their businesses.
