Post: Chronic Kidney Disease Emerges as a Public Health Concern in Brunei Darussalam

Brunei darussalam: More than nine percent of the total population in Brunei Darussalam is estimated to suffer from chronic kidney disease, highlighting the condition as a significant public health concern. Kidney disease has been labeled as the silent killer and is gaining priority attention not only globally but also on a domestic level.

According to Radio Television Brunei, chronic kidney disease is acknowledged as a major and expanding global public health issue. It ranks among the leading causes of death worldwide. The disease not only results in kidney failure but also heightens the risk of other conditions such as heart attack and stroke.

A symposium titled "Strengthening Kidney Care through Primary Health Care" was held to emphasize the role of primary healthcare as the first line of defense in the early detection, monitoring, and integrated management of kidney disease.
