CEBU CITY - Competitors from Calabarzon, Soccsksargen, and Western Visayas emerged as top performers in the Palarong Pambansa swimming competitions held at the Cebu City Sports Center this Saturday, capturing multiple gold medals across various age groups and events.
According to Philippines News Agency, Micaela Jasmine Mojdeh of Calabarzon continued her winning streak, securing a victory in the girls' 13-18 100-meter butterfly with a time of 1 minute and 03.82 seconds. This win adds to her impressive haul of four gold medals at this year's games, including top finishes in the 200m butterfly, 200m breaststroke, and 200m Individual Medley. Her Calabarzon teammates, Peter Cyrus Dean and Albert Jose Amaro II, also celebrated their fourth golds. Dean excelled in the boys' 13-18 200m backstroke, clocking in at 2:12.72, while Amaro dominated the 100m butterfly with a time of 56.50 seconds.
Soccsksargen's athletes also made headlines, with Christian Isaiah Lagnason winning the boys' 7-12 400m freestyle and 100m butterfly, and Jie Angela Mikaela Talosig taking home gold in the girls' 13-15 1500m freestyle. Western Visayas showcased its strength as well, with Zyra Villarino, Alexi Cabayaran, and their boys' 7-12 4x50m freestyle relay team, consisting of Aehro Jeush Tibush, Jasper Melgasco, Rhomrick John Cister, and Enzo Miguel Leyva, all earning gold medals.
The competitions have not only highlighted the emerging talent from these regions but have also set the stage for promising swimming careers, signaling a strong future for Philippine swimming at the national level.
