Post: Bureau of Immigration Enhances Operations to Manage Increased Passenger Volume During Peak Season

Manila - The Bureau of Immigration (BI) announced on Monday its preparedness to handle the expected surge in travelers during the upcoming peak season.

According to Philippines News Agency, the agency has fortified its operations by deploying additional immigration officers, assigning augmentation teams, and introducing mobile counters to speed up the processing of both arriving and departing passengers.

"While we anticipate some waiting times due to simultaneous arrivals and departures, we have implemented measures to ensure that lines remain manageable," Tansingco stated. The commissioner added that the rise in the number of travelers is expected particularly due to the Undas (All Saints' and All Souls' Days) long weekend.

Tansingco instructed all terminal heads to be vigilant in the coming weeks to quickly identify and address any potential issues. He mentioned that updates on the bureau's daily operations at international airports would be made available on social media during holidays and weekends, thereby allowing travelers to plan their journeys effectively.

The BI chief emphasized the importance of early check-in, advising international travelers to arrive at least three hours before their scheduled flights. "Early check-in is not just a recommendation; it's a key factor in ensuring smooth immigration procedures. Passengers should make it a priority to complete check-in and proceed directly to the immigration area," he added. For those interested in enjoying airport amenities like restaurants and coffee shops, Tansingco advised arriving even earlier than the three-hour window.

The commissioner also took the opportunity to acknowledge the hard work of immigration officers who ensure the security and efficiency of the country's immigration procedures, especially during peak travel periods.
