Brunei Participates in the 2nd IMCTC Defense Ministers Council in Riyadh

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia – The Second Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) Defense Ministers Council convened on February 3rd in Riyadh, with representatives from 42 member states and 3 observer countries in attendance. Brunei was represented by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohammad Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister of Defence.

According to Radio Television Brunei, the council was officially opened and chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Defense Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The agenda focused on discussing the strategies, key achievements, and future initiatives of the IMCTC to counter terrorism. The council meeting was held ahead of the Second Edition of the World Defense Show, scheduled from February 4th to 8th, 2024, in Riyadh. On the sidelines, the Bruneian Minister had a bilateral meeting with His Excellency Doctor Khaled bin Hussein Al-Biyari, Saudi Assistant Minister of Defense for Executive Affairs, where they discussed regional and global terrorism challenges and expressed a mutual commitment to strengthening bilateral defense and military cooperation.
