In conjunction with the Energy Week of Brunei MYCE 2022, a 3-day site visit is held to two power plants namely the Bukit Panggal Power Station and Berakas Power Station as well as the National Control Centre. Over 60 students from Politeknik Brunei took part in the visit which is part of an initiative to raise awareness on existing power generation technologies in the country.
At the Bukit Panggal Power Station, visitors were briefed on the history of the power station which began operation in 2008 and generates 116 Mega Watt. They are also introduced to the Combined Cycle technology that is utilised by the power station.
Meanwhile at the Berakas Power Station, visitors were brought to the National Control Centre. The Centre has a role in ensuring that the power supply is always guaranteed efficient, quick and safe. Managed by Berakas Power Company, the power station is responsible for supplying approximately 40 per cent of the nation's electricity.
