The Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism through collaborations of the Tourism Development Department with the Department of Agriculture and Agrifood will organise the ‘Brunei International Flower Show, BIFS 2019’. The show is scheduled to be held for five days from the 23rd of this month at Rimba Garden Central, Horticulture Business Centre in Kampung Rimba, Gadong. Organised for the first time in conjunction with the birthday of Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam, the Brunei International Flower Show is planned to be held every October as an annual event in the Brunei Darussalam Tourism calendar.

In a media conference yesterday morning, Pengiran Haji Kamalrudzaman bin Pengiran Haji Mohd Ishak, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism as the Secretary of the Show’s Steering Committee said the BIFS 2019 aimed to expose entrepreneurs and the public with the technologies and innovations currently used in the floriculture industry. The show’s theme is “Brunei in Bloom”, while the event’s main objective is to increase tourist arrivals to the country as well as enhancing tourism products and attractions, including new tourism events as a part of the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibition, MICE tourism products. The event is also held to broaden market opportunities including boosting business matching between entrepreneurs, locally and overseas. With the increase and growth of floriculture activities and products in the country, and with the increase of tourists to the country, the event is hoped to generate more job opportunities for locals.

Also present was Awang Wardi bin Haji Mohamad Ali, Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism as the Co-Chairman of the BIFS 2019 working Committee.
