Post: Brunei Darussalam Advocates for Rules-Based Maritime System at Singapore Event

Bandar seri begawan: Brunei Darussalam reaffirmed its support for a rules-based international maritime system that ensures the safe passage of vessels and the protection of seafarers. The Minister of Transport and Infocommunications emphasized the importance of maintaining sustainable and resilient maritime links crucial for safeguarding global supply chains and energy security. Yang Berhormat Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha highlighted these issues at the Ministerial Roundtable held in conjunction with the Singapore Maritime Week and Expo 2026.

According to Radio Television Brunei, the Singapore Maritime Week and Expo 2026 featured Brunei Darussalam's active participation through its Maritime and Port Authority, MPABD, alongside Muara Port Company and Muara Maritime Services. These entities showcased the latest initiatives in maritime, port, and digital sectors, emphasizing Brunei's commitment to advancing the maritime industry.

The event aimed to engage industry stakeholders in exploring collaboration opportunities and exchanging perspectives on the future trajectory of the maritime sector.

The Ministerial Roundtable, chaired by His Excellency Jeffrey Siow, Acting Minister of Transport and Senior Minister of State for Finance of Singapore, underscored the collaborative spirit of the expo. Running until the 24th of April, the expo facilitated the participation of maritime industry players, reaffirming their collective commitment to strengthening cooperation and advancing a resilient, future-ready maritime sector.
