Post: Brunei Athletes Secure Medals at 14th ASEAN School Games Pencak Silat Event

Bandar seri begawan: The Pencak Silat competitions at the 14th ASEAN School Games saw a series of matches unfold at the Dewan Riadah, Youth Centre in the capital. The morning session featured 10 competitions, with athletes from various countries competing for top honors.

According to Radio Television Brunei, the host country's team faced a challenging day. In the final of the male triple or regu category, the local regu team was defeated by their Indonesian counterparts. Additionally, in the male class H, 67 to 71 kilogramme category, Md Razy Haykal Daniel Abdullah Md Amirrul of Brunei lost to Maulana Ismail Mohd Insan from Malaysia.

The afternoon session brought more competitive matches. Fatin Hazirah Muhidi of Brunei competed against Azka Shahia Al Thafaliha Alfarizky from Indonesia in the final of the female class B, 43 to 47 kilogramme category, where she was defeated.

Despite the losses in the finals, Brunei's athletes showcased commendable performances, securing a total of 2 silver medals and 4 bronze medals in Pencak Silat. Among the dignitaries present at the medal presentation ceremony was Yang Berhormat Datin Seri Setia Doctor Dayang Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Md Salleh, Minister of Education.
