Bicol Regional Disaster Councils Go on ‘Blue Alert’ for Upcoming BSKE and ‘Undas’
BICOL REGION: The Office of Civil Defense in Bicol (OCD-5) will place the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) operation center under “blue alert” status. This is a preventive measure aimed at ensuring public safety during the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) and the observance of “Undas.”
According to a new release by the Philippines News Agency, OCD-5 spokesperson, the blue alert will be in effect from October 27 to November 6. During this period, all Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils (DRRMCs) are mandated to monitor and report any incidents or eventualities. Response agencies are expected to maintain 24/7 operational status and provide an official list of available assets for deployment. Naz emphasized that all response agencies should have contingency plans and preparedness measures in place. Regional Director Claudio Yucot of OCD-Bicol also encouraged the public to remain vigilant for the safe conduct of the BSKE elections and the “Undas” observance. October 30 has been declared a special non-working day by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to allow for voting in the BSKE elections.
