Post: Batangas Police Seize Firearms and Ammunition from Local Armed Group

CALAMBA CITY, Laguna – A significant cache of firearms and ammunition was confiscated by the Batangas police from a private armed group during a raid in Barangay Bagbag, Tanauan City, over the recent weekend.

According to Philippines News Agency, the operation not only resulted in the seizure of various weapons but also the arrest of an individual known as alias "Jad." The haul included five Glock pistols with different serial numbers, 10 additional pistols of various calibers, multiple magazines, ammunition, holsters, and ammunition storage containers.

Col. Malinao emphasized the necessity of community involvement in the police’s ongoing efforts to curb the proliferation of unauthorized firearms. During a press briefing at the BPPO headquarters in Batangas City, he stressed the importance of collaboration between the police and local residents. "Working together with the community is essential to keep our neighborhood safe. Everyone's help is needed to prevent crime and threats in society," Malinao said. He also encouraged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.

The suspect, along with the seized items, is currently under the custody of the Provincial Intelligence Unit. They are undergoing processing and documentation, and charges for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, are being prepared.
