Bacolod Police Seize PHP4.3 Million Worth of Shabu, Arrest Nine in Drug Operations

BACOLOD CITY, PHILIPPINES — In a series of coordinated drug enforcement operations over the past three days, Bacolod City police have confiscated approximately PHP4.3 million worth of suspected shabu and arrested nine individuals linked to drug trafficking activities.

According to Philippines News Agency, one significant incident occurred around 2 a.m. on Sunday, where agents from the Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group Special Operations Unit-Western Visayas conducted a buy-bust operation in Barangay Singcang-Airport. This operation led to the recovery of 255 grams of shabu valued at PHP1.734 million and the arrest of two men, aged 54 and 39, both of whom had prior convictions for similar offenses. The village chief, Caesar Distrito, who was present during the raid, expressed frustration at the suspects’ repeated involvement in illegal activities despite prior warnings.

Another major seizure took place on Saturday night in Barangay Tangub, where police apprehended three suspects and seized about 300 grams of shabu worth PHP2.04 million. Lt. Col. Antonio, chief of the Bacolod City Police Office-City Drug Enforcement Unit, noted that the trio had been under surveillance for two weeks prior to their arrest.

Additional operations on Friday resulted in four more arrests and the confiscation of 79.5 grams of shabu valued at PHP540,600, further demonstrating the police’s ongoing commitment to combatting the illegal drug trade in the region.
