ASEAN Working Group on Halal Food Meeting

The 18th ASEAN Working Group on Halal Food Meeting aimed to facilitate the uniformity of Halal standards especially in the ASEAN region in meeting the increasing demand for credible and secure Halal products and services. The virtual meeting held yesterday morning was represented by the Ministry of Religious Affairs through the Syariah Affairs Department and chaired by Republic of Indonesia.

The meeting discussed the progress on the implementation of action plans for ASEAN cooperation in Halal food which focused on Halal Food Guidelines for ASEAN Countries, Proposal to establish Halal Certification and Accreditation Scheme for ASEAN Countries, Registration and Compilation of Halal Food Additives and the ASEAN Halal Food Website.
