ASEAN-UK Digital Innovation Partnership Symposium
Brunei Darussalam’s policy priorities and strategies in digitalisation are guided by the Digital Economy Masterplan 2025 with the vision Smart Nation through Digital Transformation. According to the Minister of Transport and Infocommunications, innovation is also emphasised further with the recent formation of the Council for Research and the Advancement of Technology and Science or CREATES this year. Speaking at the virtual ASEAN-UK Digital Innovation Partnership Symposium, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Awang Mohammad Yusof mentioned how Digital transformation and innovation are underpinned by cybersecurity which is crucial towards providing a secure and safe environment for businesses and communities to prosper. Apart from that, digitalisation has now inevitably been pushed to the forefront in the efforts towards building resilience, recovery and sustainability from the impacts of COVID-19.
The Symposium continued with the launching of the ASEAN-UK Digital Innovation Partnership and served as a platform for digital and non-digital senior leaders in governments and businesses across the region to share best practices on important themes relating to digital and technology – including the digitalisation of public services. Also present was a Member of the Legislative Council.
