Brunei Darussalam hosted the ASEAN Special Senior Officials Meeting and its Associated Meetings on Energy or SOME and its Associated Meetings. The two-day event saw the virtual attendance of the ASEAN Member States, ASEAN Specialised Energy Bodies and Sub-Sector Networks, ASEAN Secretariat and the ASEAN Centre for Energy, ACE. The meeting commenced with the Special SOME and was followed by the 24th ACE Governing Council, AGC.,Meeting on the second day. Pengiran Haji Jamra Weira bin Pengiran Haji Petra, Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Energy, chaired the Special SOME in his capacity as the Senior Official on Energy Leader of Brunei Darussalam. Among the matters discussed in the meeting were the ASEAN energy accomplishments and the priority.
The first-day meeting started with a report on matters ranging from Annual Priority Deliverables for ASEAN Energy Cooperation, the report of APAEC Phase II: 2021 – 2025 and the Work Plan for the year 2022 which was endorsed during the 39th ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting. Meanwhile, the 24th ACE Governing Council Meeting discussed and reviewed the report on ASEAN Centre for Energy operations in 2021 and the plans for 2022. The meeting was co-chair with His Excellency Victor Jona, Undersecretary of State, Ministry of Mines and Energy and Senior Official on Energy Leader of Cambodia, acting as Vice-Chair.
