ASEAN Ministers’ on Energy Meeting

​ASEAN’s continued collective efforts in advancing the energy sector is important, including the Brunei Darussalam-led initiatives during the country’s Chairmanship of the 39th ASEAN Ministers’ on Energy Meeting last year. Minister at the Prime Ministers’ Office highlighted the matter during the Launching of the 40th ASEAN Ministers’ on Energy Meeting, AMEM and its Associated Meetings via online.

 

Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof said that a significant deliverable achieved was the adoption of the Bandar Seri Begawan Joint Declaration of the 39th ASEAN Ministers’ on Energy Meeting on Energy Security and Energy Transition, which reaffirmed ASEAN’s commitment in ensuring energy security and accelerate energy transition, as well as, recognising the cross sectoral and cross-pillar strategies to further advance ASEAN’s Community-building efforts, particularly, the ASEAN Economic Community.

 

The 40th AMEM, themed ‘Accelerating Energy Transition: Economic Recovery and Sustainable Growth’ among others discussed the progress of activities implemented under the ASEAN Plan of Action for Energy Cooperation Phase Two 2021 to 2025. Two key documents were launched at the ceremonial events. The meetings will see the adoption of three Joint Ministerial Statements.
