Post: Alternative Cycling Routes Introduced Nationwide to Enhance Safety and Promote Healthy Lifestyle

Bandar seri begawan: Six fatalities among cyclists have been recorded over the past five years. The accident statistics do not include those who have suffered serious injuries affecting individuals and families. Road users are strongly advised to comply with all safety controls to ensure roads are safe for everyone. As a short-term action, alternative cycling routes have been introduced nationwide as a step forward to support a healthy lifestyle through cycling activities.

According to Radio Television Brunei, in Brunei Muara District, the alternative route for cycling activities is available along the Stadium area every day. Additionally, as a pilot project, routes along Jalan Perdana Menteri, Jalan Ong Sum Ping, Jalan Kebangsaan, and Jalan Menteri Besar are open for cyclists every Wednesday night from 8 PM until midnight. The Bandarku Ceria cycling routes are also proposed for expansion. In Tutong District, the route is set at the Bukit Bendera area. In Belait District, the route will lead to Kargo Dam via Jalan Labi. For Temburong District, the designated route is at Jalan Pekan Bangar. The identified routes will be equipped with road signs, including signage and markings, and all road users are required to respect these signs, adhere to road regulations, and comply with the set speed limits.
