LAS NIEVES, AGUSAN DEL NORTE – Residents across 22 barangays in the town of Las Nieves, Agusan del Norte, have received a total of PHP 1.3 million in payments under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program.

According to Philippines News Agency, the payment distribution on Monday involved 252 beneficiaries. This initiative was a collaborative effort facilitated through the Office of Senator Grace Poe, in coordination with the Department of Labor and Employment. Mayor Karen Rosales of Las Nieves highlighted the local government’s commitment to assisting those affected by calamities and challenging circumstances. “The local government unit of Las Nieves is always ready to help, especially for those whose sources of livelihoods were deeply affected by calamities and other difficult situations,” Rosales stated in a release.

Each beneficiary received PHP 5,250 for completing 15 days of community service in their respective barangays earlier this month. Mayor Rosales also commended the residents of the 22 barangays for their contributions, recognizing their vital role in supporting government initiatives. “We are looking forward to more collaborations in the implementation of programs and services that will benefit the people of our town,” she added.

The TUPAD program is designed to provide emergency employment to displaced workers, those who are underemployed, and seasonal workers. The program offers employment for a minimum of 10 days, with the duration potentially extending up to a maximum of 30 days, depending on the nature of the work required.
