Active Weather Conditions on 25 – 28 September 2022

Brunei Darussalam is currently towards the end of Southwest Monsoon period, where a south-westerly wind surge is still dominant with stable atmospheric condition. As of early this morning, Tropical Storm Noru was observed at the East of the Philippines Sea, approximately 2000 kilometres away from the country. Tropical Storm Noru is forecast to move westwards to South China Sea and expected to be upgraded to Typhoon in the next few days.

Tropical Storm Noru will indirectly affect our country’s weather and cause windy and active weather conditions in the next few days, especially on the night of 25th September until 28th September. Squally showers, heavy at times, are expected to affect many areas of the country. Wind speed may reach up to 50 kilometres per hour on land and up to 60 kilometres per hour at sea during or near squally showers. Meanwhile, over Brunei waters, sea state is generally slight, at between 0.4 metre and 1 metre. However, wave height may reach rough state, up to 3 meters near squally showers.
