Several strategic and coordinated measures are implemented as preparation to tackle flood and landslide issues in Tutong District. This was explained by Awang Shamsul Bahrin bin Haji Mohd Hussain, Tutong District Officer as Chairman of the Tutong District Disaster Management Council, DDMC during a meeting with the council member's yesterday morning.

According to the Tutong District Officer, actions to update inventory and status of equipment as well as assets provided by the NDMC have been taken. Apart from that, boat engines are tested in every three months, and Temporary Placement Centres have been inspected. Meanwhile, the Royal Brunei Armed Forces has shared lists and map showing 10 flood-prone areas to facilitate monitoring and deliver assistance effectively. Whereas the Public Works Department has taken the initiative to clean rivers, drains and roads.

The Tutong DDMC will continue to monitor the weather condition and water level in Tutong District. Through such actions and cooperation from village chiefs, this will enable the authorities to take action in an orderly and coordinated manner.
