Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam yesterday afternoon graced Her Majesty's birthday celebration. The function was hosted by the Brunei Darussalam Women's Council and its 13 affiliates, Police Wives and Family Welfare Association, PEKERTI, Brunei Darussalam Nurses Association, PENJURU and the Brunei Shell Ladies Association, BSLA. The function took place at the Arts and Handicraft Centre in the capital.

Upon arrival, Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri as the Patron of the Brunei Darussalam Women's Council was greeted by Datin Dayang Hajah Siti Hajar Binti Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Awang Mohd Yusof, President of the Brunei Darussalam Women's Council as Chairperson of the Royal Birthday Celebration Committee; Pengiran Datin Paduka Hajah Mariam Binti Pengiran Haji Matarsat and Datin Hajah Dayang Masni binti Haji Awang Mohd Ali, the First and Second Vice Presidents of the Brunei Darussalam Women's Council.

Apart from celebrating Her Majesty's birthday, the event also aimed to express appreciation and gratitude towards Her Majesty's continuous support and encouragement to women in the country.

Also present were:

- Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah;

- Her Royal Highness Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Zariah;

- Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Rashidah Sa'adatul Bolkiah;

- Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Majeedah Nuurul Bolkiah;

- Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Hafizah Sururul Bolkiah;

- Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna;

- and Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Amal Umi Kalthum Al-Islam.

The ceremony commenced with the recital of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Kesyukuran led by Dayang Noraini Yanti binti Haji Hussien, Senior Religious Officer at the Mosque Affairs Department.

The President of the Brunei Darussalam Women's Council in her welcoming remarks said that the Women's Council's will continue to be relevant in its involvement in several government initiatives through several councils that are related to issues of family, women, children, senior citizens and persons with different abilities, as well as other societal issues such as poverty.

At this event, Her Majesty cut the birthday cake and received birthday card as well as pasambah from the Brunei Darussalam Women's Council, PEKERTI, PENJURU and BSLA.

The birthday celebration was enlivened with several religious performances by participating association members.

Prior to leaving, Her Majesty and other members of the Royal Family received junjung ziarah. The Brunei Darussalam Women's Association is a national non-government organisation that is affiliated with 13 associations and women organisations namely PERTIWI; WI; Girl Guides; PKP Belait; PGGMB; BAKTI; BISTARI; PERGANITA; Women's Graduates, BAKANITA, PERBEKAL, PEWAJA and Nurul Islam.
