About 400 containers of chicken and sweet mung porridge were distributed by the Brunei Darussalam Girl Guides Association through the Bubur Asyura or Asyura Porridge Charity Project. The cooking and packaging of the porridge took place at the association's headquarters in Kampung Anggerek Desa yesterday morning. Mung porridge is bubur kacang in Malay.

The Asyura Porridge Charity Project which carried the theme, "Sharing Brings Blessings" involved all levels of the Girl Guides Association members. Its aim was to develop a sense of responsibility among them, especially the young girls and women. Also present were Dayang Hajah Siti Hafsah Binti Haji Abdul Halim, the Chief Commissioner of the association and Assistant Chief Commissioners. Apart from being distributed among the public, the porridge were also given to the needy. The project is an annual one organised in Muharram to enliven the new year of 1441 Hijrah. Muharram is the first month of the Hijrah year.
