The government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam through the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism has allocated a 55-hectare land to increase the country's beef output capacity. The allocated land at the Batang Mitus Agricultural Development Area was rented to PDS Abattoir Sendirian Berhad. Apart from expanding cattle farming activities through the feedlot system, the measure also aims to increase self-sustenance for beef supply within the country. The Land Rental Agreement at Batang Mitus Agricultural Development Area was signed yesterday morning between the Department of Agriculture and Agrifood and PDS Abattoir Sendirian Berhad at a ceremony that took place at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Apong, Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism and Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Mohd. Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Finance and Economy as Chairman of the Darussalam Assets Sendirian Berhad Board of Directors. Signing on behalf of the department was Dayang Hajah Aidah binti Haji Mohd Hanifah while PDS Abattoir Sendirian Berhad was represented by Awang Lee Kheng Hua, the Managing Director. Also present was Doctor Awang Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin, Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy for Economy as the Director of Darussalam Assets Sendirian Berhad.
