The Bandar Seri Begawan Magistrate's Court has sentenced a local man to 2 years imprisonment for the offence of cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property. According to the Royal Brunei Police Force, the cheating activity involved hire purchase vehicles.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Muhammad Alif bin Haji Musa, an Investigation Officer at the Berakas Police Station explained that 48-year-old Geoffrey Achong Han Sun, a permanent resident, pleaded guilty for the charge under Section 420, Chapter 22 of the Penal Code.
The Royal Police Force reminds the public to remain cautious and vigilant when dealing with hire purchase vehicles particularly second hand cars, and to always remain alert in ensuring the important documents are completed and valid.
