His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam received in separate audiences and junjung ziarah from the country’s intending haj pilgrims. The ceremony took place at Istana Nurul Iman.
His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam received in audience and junjung ziarah from the male intending haj pilgrims.
Also in attendance was His Majesty’s son, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office.
This year, 1034 intending haj pilgrims including haj and medical officers will perform the fifth pillar of Islam. From the figure, 499 are male intending haj pilgrims while 535 others are female intending haj pilgrims, and they will leave for Madinah in 4 flights this month. The first flight is scheduled to depart on the 18th, while the second flight is on the 19th of July, third on the 20th and fourth on the 21st of this month.
Brunei Darussalam is among the country that has the highest percentage of haj pilgrims. This is made possible through His Majesty’s support, care and attention towards the intending haj pilgrims. His Majesty reflected his religious responsibility by awarding His Majesty’s personal haj fare, as well as fare provisions from the government and those for new converts.
Meanwhile in another section of Istana Nurul Iman, Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha received in audience and junjung ziarah from the female intending haj pilgrims.
Also present was Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah binti Pengiran Haji Salleh Ab-Rahaman.
13 officers comprising five haj administration officers and eight haj medical officers will leave for Saudi Arabia today evening. The intending haj pilgrims’ health and welfare while at the holy land becomes the priority of His Majesty’s government to ensure their comfort in performing the haj.
Prior to leaving for the holy land, the intending haj pilgrims have underwent 12 haj course sessions conducted by the Haj Management Department which was held on every Friday and Sunday since 1st of March. The course provided useful information, knowledge and experience which will be utilised while performing the fifth pillar of Islam.
