Braille is a tactile writing system used by the visually impaired for reading and writing. To raise the people's awareness on the importance of the Braille system for the visually impaired, a Braille Workshop was held yesterday morning at Pusat Bahagia.
The workshop was launched by Datin Paduka Doctor Hajah Norlila binti Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Jalil, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports. Over 20 people including religious teachers, parents and youth took part in the workshop that was divided into two sessions. The workshop was organised by the Department of Community Development, JAPEM, Ministry of Education, the Islamic Studies Department and the Brunei Darussalam National Association of the Blind. Also present were the Acting Director of JAPEM and the president of the Council for the Welfare of Persons with Different Ability.
