Upcycling fabric waste has now become a possibility in the nation. Upsykl is passionate about preventing the over-consumption of fashion and fabric waste. Hjh Masmahirah Hj Mohd Tali has the report.

Nabilah Jeffery is the owner of Upsykl, which aims to promote ecological awareness by recycling pre-loved clothes or materials that have been out of fashion and turn them into new fashion styles. Her items can be found in a fashion showroom in Citi Square, Berakas. Dyg Nabilah Jeffery shares her new collection that is inspired by Earth Day 2019 that is on-going until November this year.

For earth day, we actually developed a collection that is inspired by the environmental issues surrounding the fashion industry. We call the collection, “No Planet B”, so there’s no planet B. In a way for us to appreciate the earth, the environment and also the people behind the fashion industry in general.

With the aim to promote environmental awareness, Nabilah Jeffery shares her plans to conduct an eco-fashion workshop.

Our next eco fashion workshop will be on June 19th and that would be in collaboration with Bench Lab and KAVA, where we are introducing upcycling workshop which means that students can come in and upcycle their pre-loved clothes into new styles and fashion with us.

With the initiative to raise awareness on the environmental crises caused by the fashion industry, Nabilah Jeffery hopes to encourage the consumers to be more responsible to buy lesser quality clothes that will last for a long time to prevent the over-consumption of fashion and fabric waste.
