Hari Raya Aidil Fitri and Raya cakes and biscuits always go together. Traditional or modern, they are inseparable and add delight as well as colour to the festivities. Many of the cakes and biscuits of the festive season change or transform with changing times and tastes. But there are varieties which continue to be favorites and longed for by their lovers when Aidil Fitri comes around.
During Hari Raya Aidil Fitri, traditional favorites such as ketupat, rendang, satay, serunding and others are served to the guests or visitors. However, modern cakes and biscuits are also served with some cakes almost compulsory on the the tables. There are also certain cakes and biscuits that make people sort of nostalgic such as the 'old school' kuih mor, pineapple tarts, popia, agar-agar or jelly and many more.
The cakes and biscuits change but the traditional ones continue to be popular probably because of the nostalgia attached to them. Some visitors also have their chosen or select cakes and biscuits at the different homes they visit.
