The culmination of the National Level Nuzul Al- Quran Celebration for 1440 Hijrah was the presentation of prizes to the winners of the Al- Quran Memorisation and its Understanding Competition at the National Level as well as for the MABIMS member countries. His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di- Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam presented the prizes to the winners.

Upon arriving at the International Convention Centre in Berakas, His Majesty was greeted by Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs, as the Chairman of the Major Islamic Events Celebrations for 1440 Hijrah Executive Committee; Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office; Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Doctor Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the State Mufti; Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim bin Haji Besar, Chief Syarie Judge; and Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs; as well as other members of the Executive Committee.

Also in attendance were His Majesty's sons, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al- Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office; His Royal Highness Prince'Abdul Malik; and His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen.

The ceremony began with the reading of Surah Al- Fatihah led by the State Mufti.

This year's Nuzul Al- Quran celebration was jointly organised by the Royal Brunei Police Force, Telekom Brunei Berhad, TelBru, and Progresif Cellular Sendirian Berhad. The Minister of Religious Affairs in his welcoming speech among other matters said that joint organisation of religious events celebrations with the public and private sectors will continue in turns as a sign of the close cooperation in efforts to uphold the Islamic eminence in line with the nationwide approach in making a success of the nation's development policies and goals in various fields.

At the ceremony, His Majesty presented prizes to the winners of five categories in the Al-Quran Memorisation and its Understanding Competition at the National Level. In category A - Memorising and Understanding of Selected Verses from the 30th Chapter for participants aged 11 and below, the winner was Awang Abdul Hadi Muaiyyad bin Haji Azrol.

Meanwhile Dayang Ayshah binti Mohamed Shalahudeen emerged champion of category B - Memorising selected verses and its understanding for participants aged 17 and below.

Category C - Memorising three chapters of Al-Quran as well as the Understanding of Chapter 2, which was open to all age levels, was won by Dayang Nur Kamaliah binti Haji Jahari.

Meanwhile Dayang Ainaa Zahirah binti Haji Abdul Manap, emerged champion of Category D - Memorising 15 Chapters of Al-Quran and the Understanding of Chapter 13, which was opened to all age levels.

Meanwhile Awang Abdul Aziz bin Noor Nasran won Category E - Memorising 30 chapters of Al-Quran and the Understanding of Chapter 23, which was opened to all age levels.

For the MABIMS member countries competition, the category for memorising 10 chapters of Al-Quran and the understanding of Chapter 9 was won by Dayang Sumaiya binti Mohamed Faiz Maricar from the Republic of Singapore. Meanwhile Brunei Darussalam's participant, Dk Nurol Hafizah binti Pengiran Haji Tejudin won the Category for Memorising 30 Chapters of Al-Quran and the Understanding of Chapter 23.

His Majesty presented prizes to the winners. In category A - Memorising and Understanding of Selected Verses from the 30th Chapter for participants aged 11 and below, the winner was Awang Abdul Hadi Muaiyyad bin Haji Azrol received a cash prize of one thousand five hundred dollars, an accompanying trophy and a Tablet sponsored by Progresif Cellular Sendirian berhad. Second place went to Syarifah yesha Al- Insyirah binti Sheikh Sharul Azhar who received a cash prize of One Thousand dollars, an accompanying trophy and prize as well as certificate. While Dayang Nur'aliyah Amani binti Muhammad Al-Ameen in third received Seven Hundred Fifty dollars, an accompanying trophy and prize as well as certificate.

Winner in category B, Dayang Ayshah binti Mohamed Shalahudeen received a cash prize of two thousand dollars, an accompanying trophy and a Tablet sponsored by Progresif Cellular Sendirian Berhad. Dayang Siti Nur Darwisyah binti Sabli in second received One Thousand Five HUndred dollars, an accompanying trophy and prize as well as certificate. While in third place went to Dayang Nurul Hamizah binti Sabli, who received One Thousand Two Hundred dollars, an accompanying trophy and prize as well as certificate.

In category C, Dayang Nur Kamaliah binti Haji Jahari received a two thousand 800 dollar cash prize, an accompanying trophy and a Tablet sponsored by Progresif Cellular Sendirian Berhad. Second place, Dayang Siti Nurnadiatul Syahirah binti Mohd Sumadi received two thousand dollars, an accompanying trophy and prize as well as certificate. Dayang Aliya Maisara binti Haji Mohd Ismandi in third received One Thousand Five Hundred dollars, an accompanying trophy and prize as well as certificate.

In category D, Dayang Ainaa Zahirah binti Haji Abdul Manap took home a three thousand 500 dollar cash prize, a laptop sponsored by TelBru and a mobile phone sponsored by Progresif Cellular Sendirian Berhad. Second place went to Dayang Dalili Faiqah binti Nasaruddin, who received Two Thousand Five Hundred dollars, an accompanying trophy and prize as well as certificate. While Dayangku Nurfaiezah binti Pengiran Haji Kamaluddin in third received Two Thousand dollars, an accompanying trophy and prize as well as certificate.

Meanwhile Awang Abdul Aziz bin Noor Nasran won Category E received a cash prize of five thousand dollars, an accompanying trophy, a laptop sponsored by TelBru and a mobile phone sponsored by Progresif Cellular Sendirian Berhad. First runner up went to Awang Mohammad Fikri bin Haji Sharbini, who received Three Thousand Five Hundred dollars, an accompanying trophy and prize as well as certificate. While Awang Muhammad Abu Hurairah bin Ariffin in third received Two Thousand Five Hundred dollars, an accompanying trophy and prize as well as certificate.

While, For the MABIMS member countries competition, the category for memorising 10 chapters of Al-Quran and the understanding of Chapter 9 which was won by Dayang Sumaiya binti Mohamed Faiz Maricar from the Republic of Singapore, took home a four thousand dollar cash prize, accompanying trophy and prize as well as certificate of participation. First runner up, Awang Muhammad Azib bin Muhammad Azim from Brunei Darussalam received Three Thousand dollars, an accompanying trophy and prize as well as certificate. While Dayang Raihana Hilmy Kameela from the Republic of Indonesia came in third received Two Thousand dollars.

Brunei Darussalam's participant, Dk Nurol Hafizah binti Pengiran Haji Tejudin who won the Category for Memorising 30 Chapters of Al-Quran and the Understanding of Chapter 23, received a seven thousand dollar cash prize, accompanying trophy and prize as well as a certificate of participation. Second place went to Shohibol Huda Amri from the Republic of Indonesia received Five Thousand dollars, an accompanying trophy and prize as well as certificate. Dayang Raudah binti Abdul Razak from Malaysia came in third took home Four Thousand dollars, an accompanying trophy and prize as well as certificate.

The reading of Sayyidul Istighfar was led by a collaboration of officers and staff from the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Royal Brunei Police Force, TelBru and Progresif Cellular Sendirian Berhad. Doa selamat was read by the State Mufti.

The National Level Nuzul Al-Quran Celebration carried the theme, ' Memperkasa Pembelajaran Al- Quran' or Empowering Al-Quran Studies. This year's theme highlighted on the importance of Al-Quran studies from the aspect of reading, memorisation and understanding. Empowering Al-Quran Studies has been the nation's vision under the leadership of His Majesty. Towards that, religious education and its development have been drafted and implemented. The historical event of Nuzul Al- Quran, which is celebrated every year marks as the dissemination of country's official religion by focussing on the noble and importance of maintaining the learning of holy book of Al- Quran.
