15 participants took part in the Quran Reading with Taranum Competition for senior citizens in the four districts. Yesterday morning's competition was jointly organised by Tutong Senior Citizens Activity Centre and the Community Development Department, JAPEM. It was held in conjunction with the 35th National Day celebration.
The competition among other things aimed to enhance the quality of Quran reading among senior citizens. Awang Emran bin Nassir from Lambak Kanan Senior Citizens Activity Centre won the men's category.
Meanwhile, Hajah Dayang binti Jais from Tutong Senior Citizens Activity Centre won the women's category.
Prizes were handed over by Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, Acting Minister of Religiosu Affairs. Also in attendance were Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Umarali bin Esong, Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Abdul Wahab bin Apong and Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Ramli bin Haji Lahit, Members of the Legislative Council.
