A permanent resident was brought before the Bandar Seri Begawan Magistrate's Court yesterday for an offence under the Arms and Explosives Act. The suspect, 31-year-old Michells Jackson AnakAwil is charged under Section 17(1) of the Arms and Explosives Act, Chapter 58 for possessing homemade firearms in his car during a raid conducted by the Narcotics Control Bureau in Kampung Kuala Ungar.

If found guilty, the suspect will be sentenced to imprisonment for a term not less than 5 years and not more than 15 years as well as caning of not less than 3 strokes and not more than 12 strokes. Following a hearing at the Bandar Seri Magistrate's Court, the suspect was released on a 7-thousand dollar-bail or two local surety and further mention of the case will be held on the 29th of this month.
