The Royal Brunei Police Force has successfully detained two men involved in 5 mobile phone theft cases at several locations in the Brunei Muara District. Probationary Inspector Luqman Al Hakim bin Mohamed Jais, the Crime Investigation and Road Traffic Officer of Berakas Police Station said that the two suspects have conducted a fraud strategy through negotiation in the social media and meeting up with sellers, before running away along with the stolen items.
Both suspects were brought to the Bandar Seri Begawan Magistrate's Court for the offence under Section 379 of the Penal Code, Chapter 22 for theft. The first suspect, Han Yan Siu was pleaded guilty and sentenced to 6 months imprisonment starting today. While, the second suspect, Lim Zey Hau pleaded not guilty and his trial is extended to 27th of May.
