Brunei Darussalam received a great impact through the graduates from Al Azhar University in the context of Islamic Development. As of now, 800 graduates have completed their study at the University. The graduates of Al Azhar become the main engine to be filled in the religious administration and services, shaping the correct faith of Islam and propagating a strong da’wah. The matter was voiced by the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs at the Doa Kesyukuran ceremony in conjunction with the World Al-Azhar Al-Syarif Day Celebration.

According to Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abd Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Yussof, as the Chairman of the ceremony and Ra’es of Al-Azhar University Brunei Darussalam International Alumni Rabithah Executive Committee, aside from celebrating the World Al-Azhar Al-Syarif Day, the ceremony also aimed to enhance the religious acts in the month of Ramadhan Al-Mubarak and facilitate the needy members of Al-Azhar Brunei Darussalam alumni.

Among those present were Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, the Minister of Religious Affairs as the Advisor of Al-Azhar University Brunei Darussalam International Alumni Rabithah, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Dr. Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz Bin Juned, the State Mufti. The ceremony ran concurrently with the mass reading of surah al-Mulk and shalawat al-Tafrijiah, followed by Tahlil and Doa Arwah.
