Two local men were brought before the Bandar Seri Begawan Magistrate's Court for their involvement in a car theft at the end of last month in Kampung Bebatik Kilanas. One of the accused was sentenced to imprisonment, while the other was released on court's bail. Probationary Inspector Nurul Hakimah binti Awang Haji Yakob, Traffic and Crime Investigation Officer at the Central Police Station in an interview with RTB clarified the stolen car was traced by the owner.
The car was driven by an unknown man at Bunut Fuel Station area. He was later detained and brought to the Central Police Station for further investigation. Following the investigation, the police detained another suspect believed to be involved in the case. The first suspect is 40 year old Pengiran Rudy bin Pengiran Julaihe while the second suspect, a 45 year old local resident, Shopian Haji Chuchu. Both are unemployed.
As a result of the trial, Shopian bin Haji Chuchu has pleaded guilty for stealing the car and was sentenced to one year imprisonment at Maraburong Prison, and a fine of one thousand dollars. Meanwhile, the first suspect, Pengiran Rudy bin Pengiran Julaihe was released on court bail and the next mention will be decided in the near future.
