Brunei Darussalam is currently in the Inter-Monsoon period, where our weather is typically influenced by the interaction of land and sea breezes. Thundery showers normally develop over the inland in the afternoon before affecting the coastline and sea areas at night.

It is also observed that a weak El Nino condition is currently present at the Pacific Ocean which started early this year. This synoptic weather phenomenon can contribute to the slight increase in air temperature experienced over our country. Most global climate centres predicted that weak El Nino condition is likely to persist until around June this year. During this period, air temperatures may occasionally exceed 34 degrees Celsius in some days. Due to the generally dry and hot weather, hazy condition can be expected over the country.

The Meteorological Department shall continue to monitor the weather condition and will issue weather advisory or warnings if necessary.
