Her Excellency Sheikh Hasina, Honourable Prime Minister of the People's Republic of Bangladesh welcomes Brunei Darussalam entrepreneurs and private sectors to explore trade, investments and business opportunities in the People's Republic of Bangladesh. Speaking at the high level business forum between the business community of Brunei Darussalam and the People's Republic of Bangladesh yesterday afternoon, Her Excellency Sheikh Hasina said private sectors are the main engine of Bangladesh economy with utmost priority to entrepreneurship and private investments, both domestic and foreign.

Earlier in his welcoming remarks, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doktor Awang Haji Mat Suny bin Haji Md. Hussein, the Minister of Energy, Manpower and Industry shared the country's aspiration to nurture a portion of the country's production industry in accordance with Halal standards to meet the needs of the global Muslim population. Nonetheless, Yang Berhormat said the upstream oil and gas sector will also remain critical to national development.

During the forum, three Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) were signed between Brunei Darussalam and the People's Republic of Bangladesh. The MoUs were aimed at enhancing industry cooperation in a number of sectors including energy, construction, hotel and tourism, agriculture and fishing, food and beverage and import and export. Also present were Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Apong, Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism as the Minister-in-Attendance; Yang Berhormat (Retired) Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports and Doctor Awang Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin, Acting Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Finance and Economy.
