Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia and Malaysia stated their readiness to implement the ASEAN Cross Border Transportation of Passengers (ASEAN CBTP) Guideline. The latest progress on the matter was among the matters discussed at the 37th ASEAN Transport Facilitation Working Group (TFWG) Meeting held at Rizqun International Hotel in Gadong.
While chairing the meeting, Awang Haji Rozaly bin Haji Saidon, Acting Director of Land Transport Department among others things touched on the challenges of implementing several initiatives in ASEAN transport development. Awang Haji Rozaly hoped that the meeting will come up with positive deliverables that will be reported at the 47th ASEAN Senior Transport Officials Meeting this June in Da Nang, Vietnam. He urged ASEAN member states to put more commitment to expedite the ratification and implementation of a number of regional agreements in order to meet the timeline specified under the Kuala Lumpur Transport Strategic Plan 2016-2025. The 3-day meeting is attended by the representatives of the ASEAN Secretariat, ASEAN Regional Integration Support by the European Union as ASEAN dialogue partner as well as transport organisations. The meeting is hosted by the Land Transport Department, Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications.
