The ASEAN region continues to see a significant increase of methylamphetamine seizures, both in terms of tablet and in crystalline form. Recently, as a result of a large-scale joint operation, law enforcement agencies in several countries in the region have seized a large number of methylamphetamine drugs.

Awang Haji Mohd Jaffari bin Awang Haji Mahadi, Acting Director of Narcotics Control Bureau shared the matter at the 6th Intersessional Meeting of ASEAN Senior Officials on Drug Matters Working Group on Law Enforcement, yesterday morning at Kiulap Plaza Hotel.

The 2-day meeting is chaired by Ng Thin Chiong, Assistant Director of Enforcement and Intelligence Division at Narcotics Control Bureau. The meeting acts as a mechanism to discuss several matters including cross border investigation and joint operation, and exchange of best operational practices. Also present were representatives from ASEAN member states and the ASEAN Secretariat.
