Solid cooperation of the ASEAN Emergency Response and Assessment Team, ASEAN-ERAT reflects the regional organisation’s commitment in supporting the ASEAN Declaration, ‘ONE ASEAN, and ONE RESPONSE’. The Permanent Secretary for Security, Welfare and Law at the Ministry of Home Affairs said the cooperation can help to reduce the potential effects of disasters and prompt timely response. Awang Mohd Amir Hairil bin Haji Mahmud was speaking at the Launch of the 11th ASEAN-ERAT Induction Course at the CAE Brunei Multi-purpose Training Centre in Rimba, Gadong yesterday morning.
The 11th ASEAN-ERAT Induction Course organised by the Brunei Darussalam National Disaster Management Centre is the first of its kind to be held in the country. It is held with the cooperation of the ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on Disaster Management (AHA Centre) and the Japanese government. The course which is held until the 15th of this month involves 30 participants from ASEAN countries, the AHA Centre and ASEAN Secretariat. Also present was Adelina Kamal, the Executive Director of AHA Centre and Retired Colonel Pengiran Haji Maiddin bin Pengiran Haji Said, the Director of the Brunei Darussalam National Disaster Management Centre.
